Jefferson leaves, the other States get named after places on the Iberian Peninsula. Southern California (Nueva Iberia) keeps water from the Owens Valley, Nueva Castilla y Leon keeps farmland and water from Sierras, and Nuevo Gibraltar gets named after its rocky coastline like on Gibraltar.
